She chose Orange Tian as the challenge for this month, a dessert based on a recipe from Alain Ducasse’s Cooking School in Paris.

Grapefruit Tian

For my first challenge we were instructed to make a Patee Sable - or Orange Tian. The recipes must be made exactly as written, but did allow for the substitution of any citrus fruit to replace the orange. As you probably guessed, I chose grapefruit. The dessert was very time consuming and labour intensive, but overall, it was fairly simple to put together. I found the Tian to be a bit on the bitter side - likely due to me not adding extra sugar to the grapefruit, but the Hubby liked it so it will be likely to dissapear ;-) It's unlikely that I would make the tian again as written, but variations subbing the citrus for berries look quite enticing.

<georss:box>53.336918499999996 -113.960617 53.7449635 -113.02677899999999</georss:box>

Patiently waiting for my first challenge

I'm not much of a writer.
