Our hosts this month, Barbara of Barbara Bakes and Bunnee of Anna+Food have chosen a delicious Stacked Green Chile & Grilled Chicken Enchilada recipe in celebration of Cinco de Mayo! The recipe, featuring a homemade enchilada sauce was found on http://www.finecooking.com/ and written by Robb Walsh.

The May 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Cat of Little Miss Cupcake. Cat challenged everyone to make a piece montée, or croquembouche, based on recipes from Peter Kump’s Baking School in Manhattan and Nick Malgieri.

April 2010 Daring Cooks and Bakers Challenge

The April 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Esther of The Lilac Kitchen. She challenged everyone to make a traditional British pudding using, if possible, a very traditional British ingredient: suet.

The 2010 April Daring Cooks challenge was hosted by Wolf of Wolf’s Den. She chose to challenge Daring Cooks to make Brunswick Stew. Wolf chose recipes for her challenge from The Lee Bros. Southern Cookbook by Matt Lee and Ted Lee, and from the Callaway, Virginia Ruritan Club.

March 2010 Daring Bakers Challenge

The 2010 March Daring Baker’s challenge was hosted by Jennifer of Chocolate Shavings. She chose Orange Tian as the challenge for this month, a dessert based on a recipe from Alain Ducasse’s Cooking School in Paris.

Grapefruit Tian

For my first challenge we were instructed to make a Patee Sable - or Orange Tian. The recipes must be made exactly as written, but did allow for the substitution of any citrus fruit to replace the orange. As you probably guessed, I chose grapefruit. The dessert was very time consuming and labour intensive, but overall, it was fairly simple to put together. I found the Tian to be a bit on the bitter side - likely due to me not adding extra sugar to the grapefruit, but the Hubby liked it so it will be likely to dissapear ;-) It's unlikely that I would make the tian again as written, but variations subbing the citrus for berries look quite enticing.

I'm not much of a writer. Similarly, I'm not really into blogging. Why do I have a blog you ask? Well I am very into cooking and baking, and in order to keep my Daring Kitchen membership (http://thedaringkitchen.com) in good standing I must post my challenge results to a personal blog. So, you are not likely to find witty and entertaining commentary here, but you will find a wealth of recipes and pictures of my most recent culinary creations.
